About

“…a sharp set of nostalgic, melancholic, dreamy indie-pop.” --KEXP

"Early Internet specializes in quiet pop gems." --Thrillist

"Drenched in nostalgia...a driving, forward leap into a hazy and wishful landscape." --Glasse Factory

"A contemporary must-listen gem." --Wolf in a Suit

Early Internet is the moniker for Seattle-based indie / dream pop artist, Dean Stafford.

The debut album, 2021’s ‘You’re Just In Time To Miss Everything,’ captured the attention of outlets like KEXP and ranked #133 on the NACC Radio 200 Chart. The single “Blankets” has amassed 1.5 million streams across digital streaming platforms.

Early Internet returns with ‘Ruminator;’ a follow-up reminiscent of the moody maritime layers surrounding the Pacific Northwest where the artist lives.

The album’s first song and title track “Ruminator” is a swirling opus that serves as the glue to the album’s overarching themes of anxiety and overthinking.

Sonically, these songs mark a step forward for Early Internet, featuring guitar solos, acoustic instrumentation, and even harmonicas; all of which were textures not previously found on the first album.

Tracks like “Keep My Mouth Out Of Your Name” would sit well amongst 90s TV shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, while other tracks like “Tell Them All Yes” resemble jangly, acoustic college rock and Britpop.

The music video for “7 Sided Room,” a song about panic attacks, was directed by indie / cult director, Mark Borchardt, (American Movie, Coven), and provides a campy, horror movie aesthetic.

‘Ruminator’ was co-produced in Los Angeles with Devon Corey (Caroline Loveglow, Middle Part) and mastered by John Greenham (Billie Eilish, Bo Burnham) at Clearlight Mastering. Select tour dates to celebrate the release have been scheduled across North America in 2024.

Early Internet has played legendary venues like The Showbox in Seattle, The Regency Ballroom in San Francisco, and The Lodge Room in Los Angeles. Previous festivals include the 25th Anniversary of Capitol Hill Block Party (feat. MUNA, Goth Babe, Momma, and more).

‘Ruminator’ will be available on streaming, cassette tape, and CD, May 17th.
